TimBookTu Editor's Page
Changes for TimBookTu |
|
Time has a way of slipping right past us especially if we aren't careful. My last editor's message was two years ago. It's not that I didn't have anything to say during that time. It was due more to focusing on other things and not taking the time to put something down on paper. As you are probably aware, TimBookTu has made some changes over the last year or so. The site has gone from posting works monthly to posting them quarterly. This change is due to the changing nature of the Internet. When TimBookTu began back in 1996, there were only a few places on the Internet to post poetry and fiction that focused on African-American culture or for works written by African-Americans. That has changed significantly since then with the advent of numerous other sites, personal websites, and social media. TimBookTu has made a modest effort to go where the audience is by developing Facebook and LinkedIn pages. However, as editor, I have not put as much effort into making that a primary focus. It does allow me to stay in touch with many of the writers and poets that have been a part of the TimBookTu family. I'm still evaluating what lies ahead for TimBookTu. If you have some thoughts and ideas, I am open to suggestions and feedback. I do want to thank those who have been followers, contributors, supporters or just passersby who have made TimBookTu a part of the African-American online writing and poetry experience. As long as I continue to receive submissions, I will make an effort to keep TimBookTu online. In the meantime, please continue to read, write, and support your fellow writers and poets. Give them support by providing feedback, buying their books and spreading the word about TimBookTu and the writers you find on this site.
