The New Year is always a good time to reflect back on the past year and look forward to a new year. It allows us the opportunity to make an assessment of our lives to determine if we are indeed making progress towards our goals. Last year presented a challenge for most of us do to the uncertainties in the nation from the ongoing war overseas to the economic crisis on the home front to our own personal challenges. 2009 promises to be an eventful year because due to the multitude of problems that face the nation. We will inaugurate a new president in a few weeks. It will be a momentous occasion since it will be the first time that a black man will be President of the United States. For those that fought and died for this occasion, it will be a crowning achievement to their efforts and legacy. My hopes and prayers are that he will give his best efforts to turn the economy around, bring an end to the war, and reestablish integrity to the office of the President. President Barack Obama will need all of our prayers, our support, and our hard work. For no one person can do it alone. It's time for you to renew your steps toward achieving your own personal goals. As always, remember to spend time with your family and friends. When things are difficult, we often realize the things in life that really mean the most to us. Family and friends should be that main focus in all of our lives.
