Well, it's been awhile since I've written a message here in the editor's space. It seems that time has passed by so swiftly. Can you believe it, the year is close to the halfway point already. My last message in January [2009] was written a few weeks before President Barack Obama was inaugurated. I was very fortunate to be able to attend the inauguration. No, I wasn't one of those sitting in the preferred seating. Nonetheless, I was in the crowd near the Washington Monument and was a part of history. Just being there is something that I will always remember. Since my last message in January, I have attended the presidential inauguration, the college graduation of my son, the high school graduation of two nieces, two funerals of close family friends, an 80th Birthday celebration, and my college reunion. Most of these events were happy occasions. Even the funerals had moments of joy as we reflected on the life that these individuals lived. Both of them had tremendous impacts on those us they left behind. All of these events have caused me to reflect upon life and think about how blessed I have been. It continues to be my mission, my goal, the challenge to myself to make an impact in life. I implore you to do the same. When you're feeling down and out, remember there's always someone in worse shape than you that can use your help. So, pick yourself up from your doldrums and lend a hand. If nothing else it will help you forget your troubles and will surely help those in need. And finally, as I always like to urge: read a book, work on your writing projects, and give some feedback to the works you find here on TimBookTu.
