Still

by LaVerne Curtis and B.T. Bonner

The whisper of his presence
The anticipation of the day our eyes meet
Lost in this dream
Only it seems
To be the sweetest thing
He does it for me
And I for him
Mental stimulation
But only at arm’s length
This is so intense
If only I could touch him
Taste the sweetness of his depth
Inside of me
Me inside of it
Intertwined
Lips sweet
Bodies warm
If only for this second
I would love to be adorned
By him
Basking in all that he is
Has been
Was always
Can become
Only it seems
To be the sweetest thing

The mention of her name
Reminds me of better days
When love flowed without reason
Or explanation
Can we be new?
Reborn in each other’s arms
Surrender to the love
That keeps us together
She must know that
In her eyes
Forever still lingers
Drawing me closer
To dreams of
Long walks in the streets
And after hours talks between the sheets
I’m taken back
To a time of slow grinds
And a body so fine
Filled with heat
That melts me down
To my bare self
The touch of her skin against mine
Burning to find
The space in between
When love becomes “realer”
And passion cuts like steel
Her body on top of me
Re-creating “we”
Only it seems
To be the sweetest thing
