Freedom in Writing

by Gaptoothbrotha & Trina Williams-Emigh

seldom do my words seek an ear
yet often do my fingers seek a page
and with pen in hand
I scribble and scrawl
pouring out the contents of my mind
emptying the sorrow from my soul
putting to page all of my woes
fears
disappointments
writing is my catharsis
for the many troubles in life
that won't fade
or even subside
but I pull through
with God as my guide
and writing always along at my side
to inspire
encourage
redeem
empower
pacify
save
me

I pour out my soul on pages
telling all my inner most thoughts
my pain
my dreams
my anger
society's barriers can not stop me
opinions do not define me
once I put pen to paper
I am free to
slay dragons
save damsels
birth heroes
celebrate villains
lead armies
incite riots
calm mobs
cry
laugh
brood
be jovial
condemn
forgive
be happy
be angry
be me
