Deidre Da Silva is an 18 year-old freshman attending Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. She says "My poems are born from unexpected experiences. Experiences through which, by the grace of God, has led me to discover that who I am is enough. That simple revelation has changed me in unimaginable ways. I must share." She says that her writing style, filled with truth and sincerity, is similar to that of Ntozake Shange, Maya Angelou, T.S. Eliot, & Suheir Hammad.
