When The Trumpet Sounds

by Vanessa A. Johnson

Lord, I am confused, please tell me why,
Why so many choose to ignore you, I sigh.
You say you are the way, the truth and the light.
Instead they dismiss you and argue, cuss and fight.

They blame you when things go wrong in their life,
They take no responsibility even though they cause the strife.
You say, ‘come to me and I will give you rest,
Yet they live their lives with no regrets.

Lord, you say you are the giver of life.
Then why does he blame you when Satan takes his wife?
Or her husband, aunt, uncle or father,
Grandmother, grandfather, sister or brother.

Lord, please help me to enlighten and help them understand.
That it is their actions, their choices, and their disregard for man.
Their inability to believe,
Not fully understanding you have to give to receive.

No one knows when you will appear again,
Yet they continue to sin, continue to offend.
As we are plagued with more evil than ever before,
They forget you are the one who is keeping score.

They’d better wake up and look around,
Take a look in the mirror and see the true clown.
For in the end, it won’t be he, who answers your call,
As the trumpet sounds for all your children to stand tall.
