Trineka D. Greer was created by God and birthed by her mother on August 1, 1975 in East Saint Louis, Illinois. She has since lived in Houston, Texas, Cincinnati, Ohio and now resides in sunny San Diego, CA. She is a graduate of San Diego State University with a BA in English. She will begin her graduate studies in English at Howard University in the Fall of 2001. She plans to pursue a career as college professor. However, her ultimate goal is to open a private academy catering to the needs of Black children. Ms. Greer feels as though poetry is a gift from God that she must share with world.

The poems featured are amongst her personal favorites. She feels as though the purpose of her poetry is to facilitate the acknowledgment and understanding of one's self, one's community and one's spirit in order to bring forth positive change. Ms. Greer accredits her self-awareness, inner peace, and mental stability to God, her mother Mrs. Delores Renee Appleton, her sister and best friend Mrs. Felicia Renee Davis, and the constant tutelage of her mentor Dr. Teresa Ford.
