Astonished by your smile
That appeared like the rising sun
My stomach rolled up in knots
I couldn’t control my tongue
I fumbled for the words
Necessary to turn your head
But I could not find the handle
And simply smiled instead
Uttered sounds similar to language
A glimpse of heaven takes me
Awe and wonderment leaves me bewildered
As eloquence escapes me
Fascinated as beauty became you
And flourished before my eyes
Never saw a wonder in this world
Until you materialized
I stuttered and stammered syllables
Seemingly in broken English
Yet, you smile as if unintelligible words
Didn’t exist in sound between us
Stood aghast as I fell apart
Right before your very eyes
But something in your persistent smile
Made me suddenly realize
That words I tried to speak
Weren’t necessary for your attention
Just like your smile got me
My smile showed my intentions
