Muddy Waters

by Silk

I have walked knee-deep through muddy waters.
Dragging my worn feet slowly,
The river’s bank always so close,
Teasing my aspirations;
Which have risen far above me,
and taken residence
Among the stars.
They watch me struggle through
These muddy waters.
Waiting for me to reach the bank of
My intentions,
Hoping that the sun doesn’t set
Before my hands touch land
That is free
