Before My Candle Goes Out

by Joyce Rogers

         Before my candle goes out

I want no weeping or wailing.
       Nor prayers which are delaying.
The glorious exit for me, that is waiting.

My eyes have seen a vision.
My time is at it's conclusion.
        For eternity was seen beyond.
In front of me a timeless song.

I want but the touch of a hand.
           The warmth of a friend,
              Who understands.

          Before my candle goes out

            The cards and flowers
              I no longer need.
I'm ready to take this flight.
        I'm ready to be freed.

           It matters not my age.
       I'm in the last chapter.
           Turning the last page.

Don't stand there in a daze.
Usher me in with His praise.
Let Him take pleasure in my death,
While there's still little of me left.

He is blowing my candle out.
