The Moment

by Michael P. Rodriguez

The silence seems to melt the moonlight,
giving her eyes an iridescent glow
that fills my mind with misgivings about the moment.
Our lips lock, and my mouth fills with the sweet,
spiced taste of cinnamon.
My hands quietly try to find rest
and settle themselves gently at the midpoint of her neck.
I, feeling her larynx flex as she swallows my breath.
Me, imagining myself inside.
Sweat filled with anxiety and passion glides down my underarms.
Nervous and hungry I taste this kiss...a kiss...the first kiss...
then our lips part
and the silence seems to melt the moonlight
giving her eyes an iridescent glow
that fills my mind with misgivings about the moment.
