The Enemy In Blue

by Robert L. Horton

Very profound was the killing of Eric Garner and Mike Brown,
One was choked to death, and the other was shot down!
Both were murdered in cold blood by the enemy in blue,
Now tell me what the hell am I supposed to do!

Just because I’m black, I can’t even walk down the street,
Because I could get killed or beat by a racist cop on the beat-
I don’t want to risk losing my life to the enemy in blue,
Now tell me what the hell am I supposed to do!

I thought the motto was to protect and serve our community,
But all they do is harass us, lock us up, and kill us with impunity-
I fit the description and I’m always a threat to the enemy in blue,
Now tell me what the hell am I supposed to do!

To the black man, America is nothing more than a vicious police state,
No police officer can serve any community that they hate-
We are fed up with all the brutality from the enemy in blue,
Now tell me what the hell am I supposed to do!
