Invisible

by Raynata Y. Reed

we’ve learned to be quiet in loud places
camouflage our existence
like ashes in dust
salt in tears
having already been objectified
assimilation comes easy
intimidation easier
oppression without effort
total breakdowns; inevitable
injustice- unforgivable
reality, uncomfortable
and too often we are no one
slow souls broken from bodies
seeking compensation for woes
falling frequently into
society’s blind spots
and out of heaven’s corners
where even light will rupture
and escape
