The Day of the African

by Peacockoffire

Many so many have come to pass
Trying so hard just to break the wall
Congrats! I should say
But the air is still full of mixed scents.
How many more of us are needed to spill our own blood
On our own land?
How many more of us are needed to bend our backs each day
To reap what we did not sow?
My brother, I tell you, it is only the Day of the African that can tell.
When our land was once filled with the color of the moon,
It was only the rising of our sun that made up for the darkness
That was brought in.
Today our sun is fully risen.

Awake! Awake!
The time is here, the time of joy and unity
No one stands between us! Our goal is to be one,
Stay as one and with love behind us forever work as one.
Let us turn our AKs into ploughshares and feed our children
Till hunger begs for mercy
Yes! The time predicted by the stars of our continent is at hand.
We shall stay untouchable as long as we are not ignorant of our identity.
Arise my brothers and sisters of Africa, this is the chosen day we
celebrate.
The Day blood is shed no more
The Day we shall see each other as equals
The Day Africa will see the need to unite
The Day of the African.
