Venetian Mirror

by Alice Parris

High-vaulted ceilings, pewter pots, silk plants.
A crytal clock. African figures, dancing
Amidst antique picture frames.
A piano-shaped music box,

Whose ballerina swirls atop a hologram,
A lover's waltz preparing the heart for love.
Brass candlesticks, burning candles
Dried flowers dusted with glitter.

Sterling salt & pepper shakers, draped
Like wedding presents, with streaming gold ribbons.
Detailed silver overlay
Upon a burgandy, velvet table box.

Glass table, wrought iron legs,
A black & gold fireplace
In a handsomely-shaped Venetian mirror;
It's the beauty of love found in history.

Do we come forth, and enter in?
