My Silver Chain

by Oneal Walters

My time will not be stolen
When the calls persistently
Ring their way into my ears.
I do crave a moment of peace
A moment that will satisfy me.
I wrestle often with this situation,
Not realising that I'm linked with them.
Linked like the loops on my silver chain.
Within this craving of wanting to be alone
Comes the reality that is, we're never alone.
Interlocked with others that need us, care about us
Those that live each day to be around us,
We're linked together like my silver chain.

Message: No one is truly alone. Friends do care
about you. Friends are connected. Friends depend on
friends. Many friendships delete selfishness.
