The Idea

by Nigel Daring

I settled comfortable in my bed
When an idea came to my head
Said it took me from the dead
It wasted my want for bread

It was there all along
Somewhere in my song
But one day I took sweet rest
It burst in my head, then swelled my chest

Life anew, the world renewed
View refreshed, view reviewed
Strength resurged through my limbs
Declare to all, I've got new hymns

The idea plagues my head
If you know what I've said
Don't be misled, join me instead
Never worry about bread

The idea is greater than the living dead
That's why it came to my head
It took my want for bread
Now I'm moving forward, plowing ahead
