Rape

by Nigel Daring

They came to our land seeing a happy people
They lust after our resources
We being ignorant to it,
Welcome them with friendliness
But then they take control by force and deceit,
Destroying our comfort,
Making us feel weak
We believe we need more than what we have
Even in paradise we go mad
Trying to get what we don’t need
Our culture destroyed for the sake of greed
While they smile
All the while knowing only they can profit
But continually telling us,
We can get it
Then they flirt a token
A sellout who they garnished, brandished,
Saying you can do it too cause he did it

They destroy our way of life in the strife
Brother killing brother
Civil war, political conflicts, poor economics
Many of us run off to their homeland
Many more want to but only those who can
Because when they see us, they say “ban ban”

They robbed our resources from many different sources
Until they’re used up
Our homes become nothing but backyards for their filth
Our culture never the same
They blame us for our shame
It’s time we wake
Cause this is rape
Come, pull your curtain and drape
Their great lust none can escape
Come quickly, pull your curtain and drape
This is rape
