Fisher Of Men

by Nigel Daring

Hook them one by one, the best I can
Throw out the net, hedge my bet
Pray for control, seek even one soul
Tug of the rope, pull up with hope

Nothing to expect, except my intellect
By oceans and streams with hopes and dreams
Agony of a prophet's life to fish in strife
Can't leave empty when home has room aplenty

A fisher of men, come to take them
For the love of God, my wares I hem
A fisher of men, a thing had by the end
For the love of God, I'll find a friend

Been going all day, seems no pay
I've been hurting by all that's been slipping
Each one important, such agony every instant
Badly all I want, but goodly can't

They've been paying the cost in the ocean lost
But they fear outside, so they avoid on the slide
I the help they shun for some fading fun
And the wisdom I cast slips them to past

A fisher of men, come to take them
For the love of God, my wares I hem
A fisher of men, a thing had by the end
For the love of God, I'll find a friend
