I'd Promise Never Again To Do This Poetry Thing (But What Would I Have?)

by H.L. Nichols

I'd promise
Never again
To do this
Poetry thing
But What
Would I have?

Since not
Being able to
Hold you
Is a fate like
No other
How does one
Make love
When without
One who loves em?

I'd promise
Never again
To do this
Poetry thing
But What
Would I have?

Since
Fantasies
Erect within me
Like waking up
In the afterglow
Of your silhouette
To caress your face
And quench
My thirst
Would be
Foregone conclusion
A dream never
To come true

I'd promise
Never again
To do this
Poetry thing
But What
Would I have?

Since
There's a beauty
In your simplicity
Which quells the complexity
Of this life
And make fondling
Foreplay and tender kisses
A fine art
Then the thought that I
Could never take part

I'd promise
Never again
To do this
Poetry thing
But What
Would I have?

Since
I profess you
In poetic ramblings
And every thought
Because I truly
Believe in the
Beauty of you

I'd promise
Never again
To do this
Poetry thing
I mean I'd promise
Never again
To do this
Poetry thing
And I wouldn't
Have to
If you believed
In it
Too
