K For Short

by H.L. Nichols

I stared into your presence

To see that you’ve come this far

By the faith to outrun the tragic

I want to become your habit

On a positive vibe

It b easy to become habitual about it

La di da di- You da shiznit hottie

And your passionate spirit

Best believe I am bout it

I got caught up

Craved your tenderness

So I stepped up to claim

My kiss

When your eyes met mine

Like ice to my spine

You shot back and I melted

To Be Real I felt it

Tingled

And danced in your dimples

Because I traversed territories

If you love somebody . . .

Free Free Set Them Free

Allegory to Underground Slave Stories

Thought I’d outrun your fugitive levels

Barriers for Black men and laws

But now I must help you to protect them

Because I'll know when you’re ready

The walls of Jericho come a tumblin down

And sweetheart of gentle spirit

I will be around
