As Yet Untitled 27

by H.L. Nichols

If I had rescued you from the archvillain
When I was 13 and dreamed
The Unsung Action Hero and you my Heroine
I would have fulfilled my life’s dream
Of hot buttered popcorn and Oreo ice cream
You’d be my Wonderful Woman and I your Super Man
Most importantly we’d be Super Friends
With my life’s journey fulfilled . . . my love of life began . . .

If you were the ocean
I’d be your favorite sand
You are the woman from Atlantis
Dress me up like Aqua Man
If we were pinochle playing cards
You’d be my Queen and I’d be one of a kind
You’d say exactly what I’m thinking
Cause you’d be on my mind

You are of the Potter’s hand
And I’d worship your tan
Jesse Johnson sang, “It’s a Free World . . . “ and
I’d “, Just Wanna Be Your Man . . .”
Mom played Teddy Pendergrass, The Moments and Smoke
LPs and 8 tracks til the thing broke
While I counted 33s on my finger tips
Square Biz by Teena Marie was the hit

You and me play hide n seek
Spin the Bottle and House
The innocence of our kiss
The tones of youthful bliss
If the Geenie bartered for my one wish
For you I would not be remiss
To trade all my worldly possessions
For you are Happiness
