Inclement Weather

by Neil G. White

Massive amounts of rain speeding down to the ground/

Dark clouds drift formlessly across the skies/

This gloomy sort of day kind of typifies/

the climate and temperament of our current times/

turbulent enough to make life a rough ride/

swirling winds threatening to capsize/

this vessel that circumstance provides/

Your intent is to drop anchor when the volatility subsides/

Unforeseen disasters like the Tsunami arise/

Complicating any contingency plan you had in mind/

Towns, villages and cities are swallowed whole/

Catastrophic fatalities escalate as this circumstance unfolds/

your personal discord and this global calamity/

at first appear to be unrelated but connected they be/

by the forces of nature that bind us to humanity/

Trials and tribulations of others force us to think less solipsistically/

To prevail we must act collectively/

as we navigate thru lifes unpredictable seas/

to the eventual still waters and comforting breeze.
