Tears For Water

by Nailah Abdus-Salaam

 Tears, Idle Tears I cry
I know not what they mean
 Nor why they come
I'm not feeling sad, from anything said or done.
Tears from the depth of acceptance
Rise in the heart, and gather in the eyes
Idle tears fall down, I cry.
 Teardrops, wet and hot
 Fall from what once was,
 Old hurts never released
Trying and crying to get out
It is from the heart they shout.
 To bear untold stories
 Of wants and needs
Stories of goals planted like seeds.
Tears of joy, pain, and sorrow,
 Tears of confusion,
 From yesterdays and tomorrows.
 Tears of question
 And hope for wanting more
I open my heart to delve and explore.
So the tears can just flow
 Idle tears coming out slow.
 I'll use tears like water
For gratification as I continue to grow.
