To the Next Man Made God

by Maya Robinson

When you become holy
and your deity forms
your eyes become omnipotent
and light fills your loins
be a merciful god
When you become holy
and they come to praise
you as those unholy do
choose not to ignore them as
gods before you often do
Remember how now your
mortality feels and if you
can not at all recall your
petty desire at least your
weak and selfish will
Answer their prays for food
and peace especially those
hungry T.V. children in the
middle east
when you become holy
When you become holy and
no longer need air to breathe
lose your secular origins and
laugh away all need
Pull weakness like teeth from
their crying mouths
and punish them not for needing
For they like you now have
arrogance feeding their mortality
When you become holy and
stand like mountains majestic and grand
touch me not in your holy way
for I have found peace in my mortal days
So when you become holy and
all is known
I pray dear man made god
leave me the hell alone.
