Too urban for white
Too light for black
Focus on my character, values and morals
Instead of the color I lack
What makes black beautiful or unjustifiably catapults white
And who the hell gave you authority on which ethnicity is right
Straight hair, kinky hair, natural or relaxed
We're all HUMANS created by God...and that's a fact
Proper grammar, broken English or ebonic slang
Many people died to ensure the "Freedom Bell" rang
The color of my skin should not be all you see
Step outside your box by genuinely interacting with the likes of me
My dreams ARE significant and I'm ambitious just like you
We may never be friends but damnit...I deserve respect too
I'm not inferior to you nor am I superior over anyone
I'm striving for a legacy that clearly declares "Lived humbly...Well done"
The focal point should never be Black or White
You're not, by God's standards, considered more acceptable than me
Its One Nation, Under God...You AND Me
