How can a young eagle be taught to fly
Without first being born?
How can a king bask in the glories of royalties
If his countenance has never been adorned?

How can a young seedling grow roots
If it has never been planted?
How can a pilot measure his success,
If a plan he's never truly landed?

How can the heart be grateful for love
If she is never able to obtain it?
How can one boast in success
If never progressing out of the same old pit?

Even when love was near
Spreading it's radiant beams around
I- the unexperienced fool
Ran the gift aground

How can the might oak spread its arms
If not rooted in the ground?
How can the glorious whipoorwhil sing so sweetly
If never exposed to sound?

How can the careless fool
Appreciate a love he's never had?
How can the depressed rejoice
If all they hear and see is sad?

How can a delicate flower survive
If it never has been watered?
How can one's dreams live and thrive
If they are constantly, by life, being slaughtered?

How can love cheer me up
If I can never seize it in my hands?
How am I to submit to something
Or someone I can't understand?
