... A bullet rang out in the darkened, infinite night,
Clutching the minds and souls of youth all decorated with fright,
Many lie dead, others beyond repair-
Yet everything's all right-
Does not anybody care?
Do we as a nation pay not a cost?
For the dreams that we've shattered and visions we've lost?
Falling to our deaths, no sign of relief
Our focus was distorted in the toss-
Our soul's ransom's the high price of grief.
The weapon that slaughtered our generation-
Was fired at the hands of a great nation-
Lying on one hand, deceit in the other;
Victims of alienation-
Our greatest enemy is our own brother.
Divided and soon to be conquered-
There is no rest for the mentally bothered;
Hate is alive, racism is now underground-
Our future is silently slaughtered,
By our negligence, cannot reason be found?
Why do we turn deaf ears to the numerous threats?
Did we think we'd go unscathed and crime dismiss our debts?
Our victims no longer speak, no noise can they make,
For, their cry, we chose to forget-
And their desperate plea, our souls did forsake...
