Past Tense

by LaVerne N. Curtis

As I sit and watch my past slip into my present
I wonder at what point will I get the message
Love cannot be forced into existence

No, my obligation to entertain this sensation
Yet again
Get caught up in the whirlwind
While lending my mind and body
To the experience and the lesson
Dancing with the highs and lows of this sweet feeling
Thinking of yielding
Once again
Once again
Once again
'Cause my love has no end
While at the same time trying to make sense
Of my present and
