Peace of Mind

by Shakespear1

For all those who have loved and lost.

I gladly would, if I could,
give you a piece of my mind.

But it's understood,
my mind ain't mine.

It's a borrowed relic,
from long ago.

What I have forgotten,
is not for you to know.

You are cruel and mean,
Definitely, not what you seem.

Without a word, you want to part?
Did you forget, I gave you my heart?

All the tears and the years
and now you leave me in arrears?

If I had half a mind,
my goodbye wouldn't be this kind.

But half a mind, I don't even have.
On my open wounds, I'll pour some salve.

Farewell to a love that once I knew.
Now it's over and I'm glad wer'e through.

My heart is broken, so I leave it as a token
Not a word to you, will evermore be spoken

I'd like to give you a piece of my mind,
But having peace of mind, is just as fine.
