What If Today Were My Last

by Shakespear1

What if today
were my last?

Would I be comfortable
with my past,

or would I be in regret
and trying to forget,

the wrongs to others
I have done?

At their expense,
having my fun.

The beggars I let
pass me by?

The many times,
I made my mother cry?

The hearts I have broken?
The hurtful words I have spoken?

The love of God
I had denied.

A life of sin,
with zest, I tried.

What if today were my last?
With all the failures of my past?

Too late to
give it another shot.

I need more time, but
today is all I've got.

So, don't you be like me.
Let God set you free.

You will never know when.
So better get free of sin,

and set your heart to the task.
Today may be your last!
