Incarceration

by Joshua A. Parker

Looking out from inset windows
Caged within this prison
We envy a life much unlike our own
Witnessing others freely participate in all types of endeavors
As we mope in the place we deem as home
Youth stroll to school in delight
Have they ever held a second thought?
See also do I, new cars that roll by
Which only the rich must have bought
Observing birds taking flight, soaring so wild so free
Multiplies my plight, in spite reality grounds me
I have found similar tragedies in the lives surrounding
Potential as our numbers seemingly unlimited
Isolation hides our impact which would be grand ,
Our shine impaired as through glass that is tinted
Yes, snared in a place where Procrastination
        Is the only control officer
Within each there exist inmates, Talents with raw ability
Hopes and Dreams moping behind portals of the soul, enclosed
Unfittingly, from poor volition and self doubt
In an unseen jail, Action shall make bail
Stop wishing
Get moving
BOND OUT!
