Wake

by Jhahbriel C. E. Moore Sr.

Awake over the myths of scaring young minds
into seeing reality for what it is.
Alone, for the mind can take you places, seen by our
ancestors whom paved many ways.

What is it to fall deep into a serene state,
knowing you will overcome the hurt and anxiety.
Why love a love that can’t love you back.
Come one for two is way too many.

I sit in a daze of seas angry by the wind
of false hope.
But I awake to the joy of angels flapping
their wings, praising the one God known to many.

I see visions of colors, drawn like red
clay in a mossy ditch.
A country land cultivated by the hands of
our brothers and sisters.

I then awake to see we have come so far in this
world of suffering
To know that being awoke is like
the treasures of the Nile.
