Write Me

by Lakesha Jenkins

You tell me to write you something beautiful and my mind goes blank
What can be more beautiful than you
My answer nothing….
Nightly your words caress my body like a lover’s kiss
although your lips I have never tasted
Your face remains a picture on my computer screen
Your body vivid only in my imagination
You tell me to write you something that describes our love
Who can love you harder, stronger, fiercer than me
My answer no one….
Daily your presence although distant feels closer
Your words move me with their tender intensity
Your calls highly addictive as my soul salivates
for the next breath you speak my name with
You tell me to write you something that can reassure you of my commitment
What can be more committed than the endless hours
we spend exchanging verbal orgasms
My answer nothing….
You tell me to teach you how to love again
And I think to myself how can someone who has taught me what love is
be unable to recognize that I already have
You tell me to write you our story
And I laugh, and laugh, and laugh
Amazing how your request so simple makes no sense to me at all
Our story is just a beginning and what happens next remains a mystery
You tell me to write you something and my mind goes blank
But my heart answers
Yes, love.
Whatever you say.
