Queen

by Lakesha Jenkins

Uncertainty more surely stems from your own insecurities
About your body...based on your looks
Bought by your experiences with the liars, thieves, cheats & crooks
All the dudes who just took & took & took
Left you broken, torn in shreds
Lying in a pool of blood
Internally dead
Hidden inside your heart are the scars of never knowing somebody who truly cared
To uplift, or encourage or give back a tenth of what you shared
Phantoms of promises spoken, memories twisted like metal after collisions -
Your world collided with their lies, alibis, 1/2 truths & disguises
Shaking your sanity, your emotional self beyond damaged
Bruised your pride to stroke their own ego
Some blackened your eyes
All sampled the pleasure buried between your thighs
None denied, after all No is a word most foreign to you
Inwardly you sigh as outwardly you cry
Parts of die & still you try...to salvage the pieces by giving away more pieces of yourself
On from one brother to the next brother then the next
How many?
You've lost count
Now there is nothing left to protect....
Never the same
Poor baby fell victim to their game
Damn shame!
Now uncertainty claims what remains...of 1 who will never, ever be able to believe
that once, perhaps long ago
Maybe longer than she could ever know
She would have been worshipped as Queen
