These hands have never picked cotton and the atrocities performed on my people I have not forgotten When it is above 80 degrees I drink water from any damn fountain I please I don't bow my head and shuffle my feet just get along I speak truth to power whenever it is wrong Never afraid to look any adversary in the eye because at this stage of life it's live free or die Preparing to hand the torch of freedom over to our youth with my last breath I will whisper to them the unspoken truth My poetry plants prophetic seeds in hopes one day they will grow and as written proof that-I Am Not Your Negro ******* *Inspired by the trailer for the film entitled; "I Am Not Your Negro"
