Young and Dumb

by Monique "Deep Inside" Hughes

So much in love were we
There's no other place that I wanted to be
We had so many hopes for the future
Our love was solid as a rock for sure
But somehow things just went terribly wrong
We both wondered if we were meant to be all along
We fought, we fussed, until our hearts became silent
We pulled away from each other, our love no longer heaven sent
We were too young, moved to fast, did we marry too soon?
Our marriage, now a victim of love homicide, completely doomed
Now that we have moved on, or at least you did - I can't help but look back
How I would give anything to redo, repair, and fix all of that.
I would have tried to talk to you, work it out, but we both chose to run
I suppose that's the risk you take when you're young and dumb.
