Civil War

by Gap Tooth Brotha

On a battlefield of love, lie the ruins of a proud city.
Where God once said, "LET THERE BE LIGHT!"
Its citizens blessed from heaven above.
Their bronze countenances a sign of royalty.
Two fortresses now stand in place of the city.
Walls built strong and high.
Hearts covered by barbed wire.
Mines now lay in fields cultivated by 400 years of struggle.
Snipers terminate on site.
The innocent killed by stray bullets.
A continuous vocal bombardment strains relationships.
Midnight raids take what was once given in love.
Men fight imaginary battles with their little heads.
Their brutality leaves a legacy of pain and suffering.
Women seek revenge for decisions made for foolish reasons.
One bad decision after another, even after given first aid.
Forgiveness taken for granted.
No treaties or negotiations accepted.
No surrender! No retreat!
Two armies locked in a vicious battle to the death.
