Soliloquy of a Poet

Once was I not a vessel of phrase
Ushering forth words
until they stumbled upon one another
Such that they had no coherence
Thoughts reaching the lips
Before my mouth had time to carefully form the words
Therefore.....saying nothing
Now orally I utter not a sound
Least vocalizing diminishes the impact of my emotion
And as one peers upon the contents of my imagination,
The honesty of my soul,
And the truth of my spirit
I hope I am judged not
Yet I beseech thee to listen...
Without expectations
And to hear.....
Without distractions
For I am but merely a poet
Master of words
Possessor of articulation
Interpreter of dialect
Be I not the words I speak
so metaphorically unto the page
Such that I resemble them
And they I
