Eternal Optimist

by Trina Williams-Emigh

I see golden sunbeams gazing patiently through magnificently stained glass,
pale moonlight peeking quietly upon luxuriously carpeted grass,
and clouds that are purposely staged in a vivid blue sky

I hear raindrops that tiptoe gingerly atop welcoming tin roofs,
and water that teasingly caresses smooth polished stone

I smell the intoxicating aroma of magnolia blossoms hugging the air,
and the exotically sweet nectar of fruit playfully lingering in an orchard

I touch majestic oaks that reach to be kissed by the gentle whispering wind,
and flowers that willingly bloom from the earth's thriving meadows

I sense the spiritual guidance of God's ever compassionate benevolence,
and accept the gift of being swathe in eternal optimism
