My Galaxy

by Trina Williams-Emigh

I reluctantly shed layers of myself
that peel away in flakes and gather afoot
Carelessly you trample them
scattering my liberation to the wind like dust particles
And like dust particles circling an atom that becomes its planet
I orbit you
But you sir, are not a planet
And I will orbit you no more
Welcome, to my galaxy
