Black Man's War

by Trina Williams-Emigh

If not fought for,
would he be free
Will the white man's sins,
be apologized to he
He's still fighting a war
that's yet to be won
My Black Man's War
Still going on so far
Instead of hidden in the darkness,
now exposed to the light
He has made pledges,
to the casualties
of this on going fight
Every means necessary,
has been tried
Freedom at last,
still denied
But my Black Man,
he keeps his eyes on the prize
