Basic Principle

by Trina Williams-Emigh

Regressing to basic, primitive, raw emotion
Utterances, grunts and groans
Unto that chaos before words take form

Bare naked exposure
Beyond
Skin
Muscle
Bone

An ego cowers inside an empty home
Where cowardice cloaks bravery
And strength does nothing but weep
As pride dissolves into a shameless heap

Bare naked exposure
Beyond
Skin
Muscle
Bone

Where secrets often are publicly scorned
And memories fade very patiently
As pain cages joy under lock-n-key

Bare naked exposure
Beyond
Skin
Muscle
Bone

Where sins pray for saintly peace
And lies practice truth religiously
As love hates to some degree

Bare naked exposure
Beyond
Skin
Muscle
Bone

A heartless cavity's hollow home
Where synapses echo on a nervous stage
And words begin to grace the page
As chaos stirs them into form
