In the Presence of A Queen

by Trina Williams-Emigh

Come to me with respect, and acknowledgment, of my reign
kill those slang epithets
- just ask me my name
don't presume you know me
can't you tell
your in the presence of a Queen
I see you don't know any better, because this, you should've already seen

Come to me without pretense, put the games away
I'm not a detective
searching for a "clue", in order for me to play
don't assume you know me
can't you tell
your in the presence of a Queen
I see you don't know any better, because this, you should've already seen

Come to me without promises, you don't intend to keep
and offering me material things
lets me know
that
your shallowness is deep
don't presuppose you know me
can't you tell
your in the presence of a Queen
I see you don't know any better, because this, you should've already seen

Come to me with consciousness, sleep walking, is a no
any sign of ignorance
and I'll turn around
and go
I don't suppose you know me
because if you did
you'd know
you were in the presence of a Queen
obviously, if you knew any better, this, you would've already seen
