And Still I Shine

by Doc Williams

Through the Darkness of Reality I Still Shine
my mind ever so steady
mobbin through the ghetto's of every day struggles
obstacles remain in my path
straight and narrow is the way of man
kind are the words that encourage
not discourage or should I say
dis the courage of ones actions
speak louder than words
can kill not physically
but mentally scared for life
but Still I Shine
bright as the Sun
rises in the East
over cities of sad songs
and bad endings of life
lost in the darkness
but what makes me shine
is my faith ever so strong
always tested our daily bread
we break with so called friends
of whom not mine I Still Shine
even though you plot on
me I ain't mad at you
devise a plan to take what you can
to rob and steal right from my hands
behind my head you creep and speak of ways
to put out that light we fight
left right left right kick jab
punch stab POW POW POW
I still shine with blood on hand
falling down Still I Shine
blood on chest now laid to rest
my memory you can never kill
me dead and gone to shine with
others of my kind were the words
that he spoke all the time goes on
but they still speak of that bright light
which was I
And Still I Shine
