Just who do you think you are?
With your head in the air as if you could smell the sky,
Looking like you're better than most,
Drawing attention to yourself as you pass by.
Just who do you think you are?
Talking like you were educated in the best schools around,
Looking at me with that I can do anything look,
Man .... I'll be glad when you are brought down.
Just who do you think you are?
Driving that shiny new car,
You mustn't be allowed to experience that kind of joy,
How in the hell did you get that far?
Just who do you think you are?
In that $200,000 home,
Riding on your motorized blade cutter,
You and your kind should be gone.
Who put you on a pedestal anyway?
Who put me on a pedestal? .... I'll tell you who.
I rose above shame and held my head high,
What did you say I smelled? Oh yeah, I do smell the sky.
I rose above illiteracy in simple public schools,
Taught by average teachers with above average dreams…
yeah, I learned the rules.
I rose above being the driver to being the one driven,
And learned early on what I had been given.
I had been given a choice, a choice to be my best,
And if necessary...be better that the rest.
Who put me on a pedestal?..... I think you just did.
