As I take out my brushes and afrocentric paints,
I'm gonna color me a brotha built strong as a tank.
His eyes will be dark, mysterious and demanding,
His lips will be lush, lethal and commanding.
I'm gonna mix my colors very carefully,
And create a bronze skinned man for all to see.
Then I'll paint his body and chisel it so fine,
And claim this masterpiece exclusively mine.
With the stroke of my brush I'll make you to see,
The inside of this man so candidly.
He is a strong brotha with a powerful quest!
He commands respect and will accept nothing less.
He tells me I am the sun generating light to his soul,
Vibrant, illuminating humble… yet bold.
He says your are… my sweet ebony queen,
Taken right out of his sensuous dreams.
Just look at this portrait I've painted for you.
A strong and black man, who knows the truth.
A wonderful man for all to see,
I promise you this… he is not beyond belief.
