The Dream Lives On

by Juan Antonio Cordova

                      I
  "I have a dream", they heard him say
       to turn mankind to its former glory
   to tell the nations the greatest story.
                      II
  "I have a dream", he boldly said;
to love my fellowmen indistintively of race
  to be like Adam who knew no race.
                      III
  "I have a dream", he still proclaims;
     to be the person I ought  to be;
  to show that color is just a word
  which is a lesson still unlearned.
                           IV
  "The dream lives on", be not ashamed;
     to love diversity; be not afraid
    for rainbows colors are not the same.
                         V
   "I have a dream", his blood still cries;
      to live in harmony to live in peace;
   to teach my children from sea to sea.
                       VI
   "I have a dream", I must persist;
   to all the scoffers; to those who judge
  that at the end they all may know
  that content of character will always glow.
                      VII
  "I have a dream", a mortal said;
  or was it an angel who gave the task
  to tell the world I'm free at last!
