The Colorless Race

by Juan Antonio Cordova

I
As illusory as the proverbial pot of gold at the end of a rainbow;
and as deceptive as a fountain of water reflected by a mirage;
so is the color of my skin to the callous heart of men devoid of reason.

II
Yet, our Creator made us all of one blood
and one race in eternity's past;
as he fashioned us in His likeness and His image.

III
Violently; supremacy entered; robed in the soul of insanity;
saying to her pawns: "lets fashion a man; a superior man;
superior in wit and in power, a superior race: "let us treason".

IV
And ever since; the seed of racism has nested with arrogance in the souls
of the lofty as they sit in their ivory towers in contempt;
bankrupt in content of character, honor and shame.

V
"Let us reason"; a colorless race is swiftly dawning upon the land.
Unlike the one we use to know; but a race;
free as an eagle for ever unbound.

VI
The colorless race; unlike the race my ancestors knew and abhor;
a race full pride, prejudice and shame; but a peaceful race;
having for ever love for her neighbors as her joy as her crown.

VII
I'm a child of a colorless race; a race without boundaries;
an unshackled race; embracing humanity;
embracing all race; oblivious to gender, the features of a face.

VIII
A new race is dawning; a wonderful race;
a race with a legacy to love and not hate.

IX
The seed has been planted it has blossomed on earth;
come let us all marvel at the colorless race.
Instruct all your children to join us today;
for they too are offspring of a colorless race.
